If I get into an accident, do I have to pay for it myself?
The insurance company has been calling me and wants me to settle, What should I do?
What if I don't have insurance, And I was not at fault?
Dealing with Insurance Agencies can be very FRUSTRATING and CONFUSING. Is there anybody that can answer my Insurance
questions?
If I get into an accident, do I have to pay for it myself?
No, only in very rare circumstances does the patient pay for their care. As an
injured victim, you are still entitled to benefits under your insurance policy. Most car
insurance policies have what is called "Med Pay" or "Personal Injury
Protection" and covers every person in your vehicle. This means that your medical
bills will be paid 100% up to a certain limit. RCC's office manager can assist you
in obtaining this information.
The insurance company has been calling me and wants me to settle, What should I do?
Please, for your own good, do not sign or settle until you have had one of our doctors
evaluate your injury. If you settle before your injury is fully resolved, you are
COMPLETELY ON YOUR OWN. The insurance company knows that symptoms often do not develop early on, and that's one reason they are in a hurry to get you to sign on the dotted line
to settle your claim. If after you have been examined, and your exam is normal, then fine,
go ahead and settle your claim. If on the other hand, after you have been examined, and
the insurance carrier has questions about your injury, we will reveal to them the results
of the examination, with your permission.
What if I don't have insurance, And I was not at fault?
In some cases, the patient does not have their own insurance. If there is no
insurance to bill, we will accept certain Attorney's Letter of Protection. In most cases,
we will work directly with the "Third Party Insurance" eliminating the need for
a Letter of Protection/Health Insurance. If you don't understand what this means, please
feel free to call RCC's office manager and she will be happy to explain it to you.
